AMHERST, Mass. — The No. 27 William Smith College squash team defeated No. 29 Haverford 7-2 and fell to No. 16 Amherst 8-1 today at the 2020 Pioneer Invitational.
In the match against the Fords, first-year
Marcela Marquez Martinez won at No. 1 11-3, 11-5, 11-6. Senior
Gabby Fraser improved her overall record to 8-1 with a win against Kaitlin Reese at No. 2. Junior
Jo Pacheco earned her sixth win of the season with a win at No. 3 in three games. Sophomore

Djeneba Ballo won at Nos. 5 and 6 respectively in three games. First-year
Maia Dreishpoon won 11-1, 11-4, 11-5 at No. 8. Senior
Karina Lazaro earned a win at No. 9 12-10, 11-8, 11-3.
In the match against the Mammoths, Marquez Martinez won her fourth straight match 12-10, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6 at No. 1. Amherst won the next eight matches in three games.
The Herons will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 26 when they play Smith for the last match of the Pioneer Invitational. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
