Herons to host Oswego in Poole Sports Dome Saturday

GENEVA, N.Y.- The William Smith College lacrosse team will host Oswego Saturday, Feb. 29, to open the home portion of its schedule. The teams will play on Stiles Field at the Thomas B. Poole '61 and Family Sports Dome. Opening Draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
Due to state fire code, occupancy of the dome is limited to 299 people, including student-athletes, coaches, officials and game management staff. Admission to the game will be restricted to people on the teams' pass lists. There will be no general admission.
 
The only beverage allowed inside the Dome is water. Food and drink are otherwise prohibited. Vaping, smoking, or the use of other tobacco products are also prohibited as is chewing gum.
 
WHWS-FM (105.7) will broadcast the game live. Viewers can watch the game online at www.hwsathletics.com/watch. Fans will also be able to track the contest with Live Stats.
 
William Smith, which is ranked 15th in the latest IWLCA poll, begins its 2020 campaign Wednesday, Feb. 26, in Geneseo. Opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Herons are coming off a 17-3 season that saw them win their fourth consecutive Liberty League regular season and tournament title.  Head Coach Anne Phillips begins her fifth year at the helm for William Smith and returns 18 players from last season, including 11 players that started 10 or more games.  
 
Oswego will also begin its season on Wednesday. The Lakers, who were picked to finish fourth in the SUNYAC, will take on Morrisville. The Lakers were 11-5 in 2019.
 
Saturday's game will be the second meeting between William Smith and Oswego. The Herons defeated the Lakers 18-3 on March 15, 2004, in West Palm Beach, Fla.
