Hobart College's Matt Fridel and Henry Loudon earned the Liberty League Men's Cross Country weekly awards the conference office announced today. Fridel was named the performer of the week while Loudon was the rookie of the week.
 
Fridel was the Statesmen's top finisher for the third race in a row, finishing 21st in a field of 87 runners at the Hamilton Tune-Up Invitational Saturday. He covered the 5-kilometer course in 17:30.2.
 
Loudon was the third Statesmen to cross the finish line. He stopped the clock at 17:48.8, placing 29th overall. It was his fastest 5k time of the season.
 
As a team, Hobart finished fourth out of nine teams at Hamilton.
 
The Herons will compete in the Liberty League Championships Saturday, Oct. 30 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
