Cross Country teams set for Liberty League Championships this weekend

The Hobart and William Smith cross country teams will travel to Canton, New York, this weekend for the 2025 Liberty League Cross Country Championships hosted by Clarkson. On Saturday Nov. 1, the men's 8-kilometer race will start at 11 a.m. followed by the women's 6- kilometer race at noon.

Fans who cant make it to Canton can follow the action with Live Video and Live Stats.

SCOUTING THE STATESMEN
  • Hobart has had four runners post sub-28-minute 8K times this year.
  • Sophomore Duncak Kipkoech logged the Statesmen's fastest 8K at the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 11, crossing the finish line at 26:08.0 to place 29th. His finish was the second fastest 8k time in Hobart history and was more than 53 seconds faster than his previous season best.
  • That same day, first-year Malachi Quinn improved his 8k time by 88 seconds after stopping the clock at 27:39.4. Sophomore Philip Dilgard-Clark clocked in at 27:43.6 to take 89th at the Highlander Invitational.
MEN'S FIELD
  • RPI is the defending champion in the men's race. The Engineers put seven runners in the top 10 to win the title by 52 points over second place St. Lawerence last season.
  • Vassar finished third,19 points behind St. Lawrence. RIT, Union, Ithaca, Clarkson, Hobart and Bard rounded out the field.
  • St. Lawrence senior Nick Lyndaker is the defending individual champion. Last year in Geneva, he posted a winning time of 24:35.3, 6.9 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
  • The Engineers are ranked eighth in the nation in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
SCOUTING THE HERONS
  • William Smith has had two runners post sub-25-minute 6K times this season.
  • On Oct. 18, the Herons won their fourth straight CCOC Championship and were led by senior Hope Johnson, who won the CCOC individual title with a time of 24:16.6. Sophomore Megan Ingraham (25:43.7), junior Salma Menkari (26:02.4) and junior Zoe Kusyk (26:36.6) also placed in the top 10.
WOMEN'S FIELD
  • Vassar is the defending champion on the women's side. The Brewers placed four runners in the top 10 and eked out a five-point win over runner-up RPI.
  • St. Lawrence was third, trailing RPI by 45 points. Ithaca, RIT, Union, William Smith, Clarkson and Bard rounded out the field.
  • Vassar junior Haley Schoenegge is the defending individual champion. Last year in Geneva, she posted a winning time of 20:59.6, 6.8 seconds ahead of second place finisher, RPI junior Jules Bleskoski.
  • In the latest USTFCCCA poll, Vassar is No. 19., while RPI is receiving votes.
