SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Hobart College, led by
Jonathan Garcia, finished eighth at the 2021 Liberty League Men's Cross Country Championships. The 8-kilometer race was contested at Saratoga Springs State Park.
Garcia posted his fastest 8k time of the season, crossing the finish line in 29:10.2, a 4.5 second improvement over his time at the Yellowjacket Invitational on Sept. 18. He was 75th out of 110 finishers.
Matt Fridel was right behind Garcia, finishing 76th in 29:14.8.
Henry Loudon stopped the clock at 29:32.4, finishing 84th.
Ian Albreski and
Jason Montecalvo rounded out the team score for Hobart. Albreski was 88th in 29:41.9 and Montecalvo was 94th in 30:31.8.
Led by individual winner Matthew Lecky, RPI successfully defended its league championship. The Engineers won the team title by two points over runner-up Vassar 36-38. Ithaca (82) was third followed by St. Lawrence (96), RIT (131), Clarkson (177), Union (200), Hobart (259) and Bard (292).
Hobart will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, when the Statesmen compete in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championship hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
