#14 William Smith, #10 Ithaca set for weekend series

The William Smith College lacrosse team will take on Ithaca in a pair of top-25 match ups this weekend. The Herons are ranked 14th and the Bombers are ranked 10th in the IWLCA poll ahead of the key Liberty League contests.
 
Ithaca will host the front end of the home-and-home series on Friday, April 2, at 4 p.m. The contest will be webcast with live video and stats on Ithaca's site. William Smith will make its Boswell Field debut on Saturday, April 3, at 2 p.m. Fans can follow the action on HWS All-Access and with Live Stats. The game will also be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
This weekend marks the 54th and 55th all-time meetings between the Herons and the Bombers. William Smith leads the all-time series 32-21, including five straight since 2017. The Bombers and Herons have met twice in each of the last two full seasons, once in the regular season and once in the Liberty League Tournament. This is the first time William Smith and Ithaca will meet twice in the regular season.
 
The Herons enter the weekend with a 2-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the conference. William Smith is coming off a weekend sweep of Rochester. The Herons are led by sophomore Maddie Montgomery (5g 1a), junior Payton McMahon (4g 2a) and senior Anna Murphy (3g 3a) who have six points each. McMahon and sophomore Molly Davis lead the team with seven draw controls. On the defensive end of the field, senior Mekayla Montgomery leads the team with eight caused turnovers and 12 ground balls. First-year Maddie Bamberger is 2-1 in goal with a 6.67 goals against average and a .535 save percentage.
 
Ithaca is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play to start the season. Midfielder Jacqui Hallack leads the team with 20 goals, five assists, 25 points and 30 draw controls. Rachel Rosenberg has a team best 10 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls. Mackenzie Schade has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 4-0 with a 9.67 GAA and a .408 save percentage.
