#19 Herons face #15 Golden Eagles this weekend

The William Smith College lacrosse team will travel to Brockport on Saturday, April 24, for a top-25 match up at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. between the Herons and the Golden Eagles.
 
The SUNYAC still has a no spectator policy so fans can follow Saturday's action with live video and stats on Brockport's website.
 
Saturday's game will be ninth meeting between William Smith and Brockport. The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 6-2, including a 3-0 mark in Brockport. The Herons' two wins in the series came in Florida on a neutral field. This is the first meeting between William Smith and Brockport since 2015.
 
The Herons, who are ranked 19th in this week's IWLCA poll and 20th in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, bring a 6-3 overall record into the match up. William Smith is coming off a weekend sweep of RIT to close out Liberty League play. Sophomore Maddie Montgomery leads the team with 28 goals and 32 points. She is second on the team with four assists. Senior Anna Murphy is second on the team with 14 goals and 17 points. She needs one point to hit the 100-point plateau for her career. The Herons' defensive effort is led by senior Mekayla Montgomery's 34 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers and 34 draw controls. First-year Maddie Bamberger has played a majority of the minutes in goal, she is 6-2 with an 8.13 goals against average and a .430 save percentage.
 
Entering the weekend, Mekayla Montgomery leads the Liberty League and is 40th in the nation, averaging 2.56 caused turnovers per game.  She also leads the conference with 3.78 ground balls per game. Bamberger is 34th in the nation in GAA.
 
Brockport, which is ranked 15th in the IWLCA poll and 14th in the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, is 8-2 overall this season and has won eight straight games. Heather Conklin leads the team with 54 points on 44 goals and 10 assists. She is one of three Golden Eagles with 40 points this season along with Natalie Stough (16 g, 31a) and Allison Jennings (26g, 14a). Conklin also has a team best 44 draw controls this year. Morgan Elmer has a team best 27 ground balls and Logan Hibbard leads the way with 13 caused turnovers. Elmer has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 8-2 with a 7.25 GAA and a .589 save percentage.
 
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend ranked eighth in the nation in save percentage (.586), 13th in assists per game (9.70), 17th in points per game (26.70), 21st in scoring margin (+10.50) and 24th in scoring offense (17.00).
