Hobart College rising senior
Mo Marchart was named to the inaugural Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-America teams this morning. The seven seat in the Statesmen's varsity eight, Marchart garnered honorable mention accolades.
Â
"While Mo is certainly a talented oarsman; he is also a workhorse," says Head Coach
Paul Bugenhagen. "He's a great example for our team that hard work always pays off. I'm happy to see Mo recognized along with the very best collegiate oarsmen in our sport. He's earned this honor and proves everyday that it's great to be a Statesman."
Â
In order to be named an All-America, rowers and coxswains must meet all eligibility rules defined by their institution, raced in the varsity boat during the spring season and been nominated by their institution. Nominated student-athletes are then selected by the IRCA Board of Directors based on strength of finish of the varsity boat, nomination rank within institution and coach's comments, individual achievements and erg score.

Marchart raced with Hobart's varsity eight this spring, earning second team All-Liberty League honors. The boat was named the Liberty League Crew of the Year following a gold medal winning performance at the conference championship regatta. The Statesmen dominated the field defeating Ithaca by 20.443 seconds, claiming their 16th straight gold medal in the event. Hobart wrapped up its season at the IRA National Championships, finishing third in the fourth level final (21st overall).
Â
A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Marchart is a three year member of Hobart's varsity eight. He was also part of the Liberty League Crew of the Year as a first-year and has been a part of six Liberty League Boats of the Week. As a sophomore he won a bronze medal at the Head of the Charles regatta. Following his sophomore year, Marchart was named a College All-American Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year. Marchart won the Abe Solomon Memorial Award as Hobart's Rookie of the Year and the Rookie Award for Rowing in 2019. In his rookie season, he won a gold medal at the Liberty League Championship and the National Invitational Rowing Championships.
