CLINTON, N.Y.—For the second week in a row, first-year
Matt Fridel led the Hobart College cross country team to the finish line. This time, he placed 38th out of 107 runners at the Hamilton Short Course Invitational.
Fridel covered the 4-kilometer course 16:13.1. He made a one-minute, 50-second improvement over last week's 4K at SUNY Poly.
Jonathan Garcia was the second Hobart runner home, stopping the clock at 16:44.5, a more than four minute improvement over last week.
Ian Albreski (16:49.2) and
Henry Loudon (16:50.9) were 75th and 76th, respectively. Albreski improved his time by over a minute while Cole lower his time by more than two minutes.
Hamilton put five runners inside the top 11 to take the team title. The Continentals were 15 points better than second place St. Lawrence. Ithaca, Nazareth and St. John Fisher rounded out the top five. The Saints' Jackson Hamilton was the individual winner with a time of 15:27.1.
Up next, the Statesmen will take part in the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester on Saturday, Sept. 18.
