ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The William Smith College cross country team competed in the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester this morning. The 6-kilometer race was run in Genesee Valley Park and included 214 runners from 18 teams.
Abby Palin was the only Heron to finish in the top 100, placing 69th. She clocked in at 24:42.8, improving her career best time by more than one minute and 29 seconds.
Ruby Auman just missed joining Palin in the top 100. She crossed the finish line in 25:43.2, 101st overall.
Erin Howe was the third William Smith finisher, placing 127th with a time of 26:31.1.
Mikayla Gullace was close behind Howe, posting a time of 26:39.3 to finish 133rd.
Gillian Parrett was the fifth Heron across the line, logging a time of 26:51.9 and finishing 141st.
As a team, William Smith was 16th. Division I Cornell took the team title by 30 points over runner-up Buffalo. RIT was the top finishing Division III team, placing third overall. The Big Red's Isa Meyers was the individual winner with a time of 22:03.8, edging out the Bulls' Riley Jones by a mere 0.3 seconds.
The Herons will be back in action Oct. 2, when they compete in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo in Letchworth State Park.
