ROME, Ga— Senior Jett Wright and junior Sean Pesin will head to the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, to represent Hobart College in the ITA Cup this week. This is the first time since 2019 that Hobart will be represented at the national tournament.
 
Wright and Pesin will begin action on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. as they take on twin brothers, James and Thomas Yu of Johns Hopkins.
 
The Statesmen earned a spot in the ITA Cup by reaching the finals of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Drew University Sept. 30 through Oct. 2. Wright and Pesin defeated teams from Skidmore, RPI, and Hamilton before falling to Aiden Drover-Mattinen and Andy Zhu from RPI in the double's championship match.
 
The ITA Cup, formerly known as the Small College Nationals, has history dating back to 1986. After expanding in 2019, the ITA Cup will host 16 singles competitors and 16 doubles teams for the Division II, Division III and NAIA competitions. All competitors will be guaranteed at least three matches over the course of the tournament.
