Football hosts Union Saturday

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will host Liberty League rival Union College Saturday, Oct. 29. Kickoff on Boswell Field at Urick Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.

FOR THE RECORD
  • Union is 6-1 overall, 3-0 in the Liberty League.
  • Hobart is 4-3, 1-2 in conference.
 
HISTORY
  • The Hobart-Union series dates back to 1896, when the Statesmen scored a 6-4 win in Schenectady.
  • The Dutchmen lead the series 53-49-2, including back-to-back wins in Schenectady.
  • Hobart is 7-3 in the past 10 meetings, including five straight wins in Geneva.
 
LAST TIME WE MET
  • The 2021 showdown between the Statesmen and the nationally-ranked Dutchmen went down to the wire. With a 24-yard field goal with just 6 seconds left in regulation, Hobart tied the game at 20 to force overtime.
  • Union got the ball first in OT and took a 27-20 lead on Ike Irabor's 2-yard TD run.
  • Facing fourth-and-4 from the 6, Hobart came up just short of the first down mark and the Dutchmen held on for the win.
 
HOBART'S OFFENSE
  • The Statesmen are averaging 302.1 yards per game, including 165.3 through the air.
  • Quarterback David Krewson directs the offense. He has completed 55.5% of his passes this year for 897 yards and eight touchdowns.
  • The Statesmen have five receivers with 11 or more receptions led by Alex LaBella's 14 catches for 220 yards and two TDs. He's coming off a seven-catch, 101-yard performance at St. Lawrence.
  • Tim Denham Jr. leads the ground game with 392 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
 
HOBART'S DEFENSE
  • Hobart is giving up 244.1 yards per game, 26th in the nation in total defense, and 13.3 points per game, 25th in scoring defense.
  • Linebacker Anthony Romano leads the Statesmen with 58 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
  • Linebacker Peterson Monexant is second on the team with 50 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks.
 
ABOUT UNION
  • The Dutchmen are ranked in the top 10 in the nation in red zone offense (2nd, 93.9%), sacks allowed (7th, 4) and passing efficiency (10th, 179.34).
