Field Hockey heads to Ithaca for Liberty League semifinal

The William Smith College field hockey team will head to Ithaca on Friday, Nov. 4. to take on the Bombers in the Liberty League semifinals at 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE HERONS:
  • The Herons are 14-4 on the season and 5-2 in conference play, earning the No. 3 seed in the five-team tournament.
  • Graduate student Emily Leonard leads the team with 31 points on 14 goals and three assists, followed by junior Sofia Pattillo with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists.
  • Junior goalie Kristen McCormick has a 11-3 record, posting a 1.45 GAA and a .750 save percentage.
ABOUT THE BOMBERS:
  • Ithaca finished the regular season 14-3 and 6-1 in the Liberty League. The Bombers are the No. 2 seed.
  • Natalie Descalso leads Ithaca with 27 points on nine goals and nine assists.
  • Goalie Macy Brandwein enters the postseason with a 14-3 record, posting a 0.66 GAA and a .841 save percentage.
LAST TIME WE MET:
  • Ithaca defeated William Smith on Oct. 23, 2-0, to conclude the Liberty League regular season.
  • Amberly Christiansen and Morgan Mullen scored for the Bombers.

  • Since first squaring off in 1977, William Smith has played Ithaca 45 times. The Herons lead the series 30-15, including a 14-7 record at Ithaca.

  • 1992: William Smith played Ithaca three times (two times at Ithaca). The Herons won all three meetings on the way to the program's first national championship.
