The Hobart College rowing team swept the Liberty League Crew of the Year Awards as announced by the conference office this morning. The Statesmen's varsity eight was named the Crew of the Year and the novice four was named the league's Novice Crew of the Year. In addition, five Statesmen were named to the All-Liberty League teams.

Hobart's varsity eight claims its 18th straight Liberty League Crew of the Year Award after capturing a gold medal at this year's conference championship. The Statemen, who have never lost the varsity eight race at the conference championship, have won every single Liberty League Crew of the Year Award. The year's boat was powered by

Conrad Palmer,
Cameron Kumagai,
Sean Madden and
Alex Sickmuller. They traversed the 2,000-meter Fish Creek Course in a time of 6:22.020.

MacDonald, Kumagai and Berzon earned first team All-Liberty League honors and Palmer and Sickmuller wer placed on the second team. Berzon was on the second team in 2021.

This is the seventh time that Hobart has won the conference's Novice Crew of the Year Award. The Statesmen last won the award in 2011.

Andrew Painton powered Hobart to a gold medal in the novice four race at the conference championship. They stopped the clock with a time of 7:33.070, Union was second 39 seconds back in second place.

Hobart will wrap up its 2022 season in West Windsor, New Jersey, at the IRA Championships. The Statesmen will race a varsity four at the regatta.
