William Smith College squash player Jada Smith-Padmore '24 will represent Barbados in the XXII Commonwealth Games. She will compete in women's squash singles which begins July 29 in Birmingham, England.

Every four years, the Commonwealth Games bring nations together nations and territories that were once associated with the British Empire.

Smith-Padmore will begin her tournament against the Cayman Islands' Jade Pitcairn. The winner advances to the round of 32 where they will face the No. 2 seed, England's Sarah-Jane Perry.  Perry was the silver medalist four years ago.

"We're proud of Jada and the work she's done to this point to put herself in this position to wear her country's colors in such an important global squash event," Head Coach Pat Cosquer said. "I can't think of a more fun and inspirational way to prepare for her third season here at HWS. Go Jada and Go Barbados!"

In 2021-22, Smith-Padmore was a major contributor for William Smith, helping the Herons capture the Walker Cup at the College Squash Association Team Championships. Smith-Padmore was 11-5, playing in the middle of the lineup. She was a team-best 5-0 in the No. 6 spot. Smith-Padmore was 3-0 at the CSA Team Championships. She wrapped up the season playing with Laila Selim in the doubles draw at the CSA Doubles Championship.

William Smith will open its 2022-23 season Nov. 19 when it heads to Amherst, Massachusetts, to take on the Mammoths. The Herons will take on Cornell in their home opener on Nov. 30.
