Herons welcome Golden Knights, Saints for alumnae weekend

The William Smith College basketball team will host its annual alumnae weekend this weekend as it welcomes Clarkson and St. Lawrence in two Liberty League contests. The Herons will take on the Golden Knights on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Saints on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Fans who cannot make it to Bristol Gymnasium this weekend can follow the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The games will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).
 
The Herons are 5-9 on the season and 3-4 in conference play after two league victories last weekend over Bard and Union. On Friday, first-year Carly Scott posted a career-high 13 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Maddie Patrick posted 12 points and eight rebounds. In Saturday's victory over the Dutchwomen, junior Brooke Jarvis posted 19 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. Senior Lauren DeVaney chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.

ABOUT THE HERONS
  • Jarvis was named to the Liberty League weekly honor roll after last week's performances.
  • Jarvis leads the team, averaging 14.0 points per game, followed by DeVaney with 12.1 points per game.
  • DeVaney averages a team-leading 8.8 rebounds per game, followed by Jarvis with 7.4 and Patrick with 6.8.
  • DeVaney and Jarvis both sit top-10 in both scoring and rebounds per game in the conference.  
     
ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
  • Clarkson enters Friday night's matchup with a 5-7 overall record and 1-5 conference record after falling to Ithaca 76-26 on Saturday.
  • Cassidy Dumont leads the Golden Knights, averaging 14.5 points per game, followed by Lauryn Withrow averaging 10.7 points per game.
  • Bella Doyle averages a team-leading 8.8 rebounds per game, followed by Elaina Porter averaging 7.3.
ABOUT THE SAINTS
  • St. Lawrence enters the weekend with a 6-6 overall record and 2-4 in conference and will head to RIT to take on the Tigers on Friday night before heading to Geneva on Saturday.
  • Jackie Malley leads the Saints, averaging 11.1 points per game, followed by Olivia Middleton averaging 9.2 points per game.
  • Olivia Barringer averages a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game, followed by Malley with 5.1.
 
SERIES SNAPSHOT
  • William Smith and Clarkson will face off for the 72nd time on Friday. The Herons lead the series 53-18, including a 30-5 record in Geneva.
  • Last season the Herons and Golden Knights split the series with Clarkson winning 75-70 in Potsdam and William Smith winning 73-63 in Geneva.
  • William Smith and St. Lawrence will face off for the 78th time on Saturday. The Herons lead the series 42-35, including a 24-14 record in Geneva.
  • The Saints swept the series last season, defeating the Herons 84-69 in Canton and 69-48 in Geneva.
