Box Score MADISON, N.J.— The Hobart College tennis team had a strong showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men's Northeast Regional Championships which was headlined by senior
Sean Pesin advancing it to the quarterfinals of the singles draw.
SINGLES ACTION:
- Top-8 seeded Senior Sean Pesin advanced to the second round after Josh Thomas from Drew withdrew after playing one point. Pesin then beat Tasmay Sha from RPI, 8-7 (7-4), followed by another victory over Derek Jordan from TCNJ, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the quarterfinals. Pesin then faced Jingyuan Chen from NYU but had to withdraw in the third set due to injury.
- Sophomore Nick Fischer defeated Louis Bourn from Skidmore, 8-4, followed by a win over Hamilton's Taran Korwar. Fischer then fell in the round of 16 to third-seeded Matthew Michibatta from TCNJ, 6-1, 6-4.
- Junior Jacob Linares defeated Joel McCardless from RPI, 8-7 (7-4), followed by a second victory over top-16 seeded Nika Mori from Skidmore, 8-2. Linares then fell to second-seeded Connor Griff from Hamilton, 6-2, 6-3 , in the round of 16.
- Junior Nick Grosso defeated William Schmid from Oneonta, 8-4, before falling to Rumaish Khastgir from NYU, 5-8.
DOUBLES ACTION:
The top-8 seeded pairing of Pesin and Linares defeated Grahith Movva and Alec Turcotte from RIT, 8-7 (9-7), before falling to Ithaca's Emiliano Pedrero and Gijs Fidler in the round of 16, 7-8 (5-7).
NEXT UP:
Hobart will be back in action Sunday, October 8th, when they travel down to Philadelphia, PA for a scrimmage against Washington College to close out its fall season. First serve between the Statesmen and the Shoremen is set for 4:30 p.m.
