Tackles & Touchdowns Game returns for 13th season

10/26/2023 9:45:00 AM

GENEVA, N.Y.—When the Hobart College football team takes to Boswell Field Saturday, Oct. 28 it will mean more than a Liberty League showdown against St. Lawrence University. The Statesmen are hosting their annual Tackles & Touchdowns for Ability Partners Foundation fundraiser.

Led by senior defensive end Alex Karpawich and junior offensive lineman Ethan Kowalski, the 13th annual event raises funds for local non-profit Ability Partners Foundation, which supports Happiness House, CP Rochester, and Rochester Rehabilitation.

Members of the Hobart football team are asking family, friends and fans to pledge $1 for every tackle and/or $7 for every touchdown the Statesmen score against the Saints. Contributors can also make a flat rate donation. CLICK HERE for the pledge form.

As a part of Tackles and Touchdowns Week, members of the football team will visit Happiness House in Geneva. Each year, Statesmen go into the classrooms to read to the students and play games with them.

Happiness House, based in Geneva and Canandaigua, is an educational, residential, health and human service organization that excels in providing the highest quality, innovative and cost effective services to children and adults with and without disabilities through collaboration with families and partners throughout the Finger Lakes community.

Tackles & Touchdowns was founded in 2010 by Hobart offensive lineman Jarrid Blades '12. In 2012, he was honored as the Happiness House Volunteer of the Year after raising more than $5,000 in the first two years of Tackles & Touchdowns. In 12 seasons, Hobart has raised more than $44,000 for Ability Partners Foundation.
