Statesmen to Battle Bengals on Boswell Saturday

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will return to David J Urick Stadium to host Buffalo State University in a Liberty League showdown Saturday, Oct. 7. Kickoff on Boswell Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game will be the 10th gridiron meeting between Hobart and Buffalo State in a series that began in 1984.
  • The Statesmen lead the series 6-3 and are currently riding a four-game win streak over the Bengals.
  • Hobart won the 2022 showdown 63-7, breaking the game wide open with a 35-point second quarter.

  • Hobart aims to bounce back from its first loss of the season, a 24-14 setback on the road against nationally-ranked Ithaca.

  • Junior kicker Tobias Wefering is tied for the league lead in field goals per game (1.0) and his 41-yard field goal against Keystone is the longest by a conference kicker this season. He is third in the league in points by a kicker with 25.
  • Wefering punted three times last week at Ithaca, averaging a Hobart game record 53.0 yards per punt.
 
SCOUTING REPORT
  • Buffalo State is fifth in the Liberty League in scoring offense (23.0 ppg) and seventh in scoring defense (28.8 ppg). The Bengals are sixth in total offense (302.5 yds/g) and seventh in total defense (317.0).
  • Running back Ale Wilson leads the conference in rushing yards per game (106.0). He has 424 yards (6.1 yds/att) and four touchdowns in four games this year.
  • Linebacker Kenneth Mosley leads the team and is second in the league with 9.5 tackles per game.
  • Defensive lineman Nicholas Moore paces the Liberty League in both tackles for loss (1.38/g) and sacks (0.75)
