PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The 14th-ranked William Smith College squash team wrapped up the 2023 Kurtz Cup with a 5-4 win over 16th-ranked Bowdoin College on the final day of the College Squash Association National Collegiate Team Championships at the University of Pennsylvania. With the victory, the Herons finished seventh in the Kurtz Cup, B Division, and 15th overall.
SEASON WRAP
- William Smith wrapped up the 2022-23 season with an 18-4 overall record. The 18 wins this season are the most in program history.
- The Herons' 15th-place finish matches the best finish in program history at the CSA Team National Championship. William Smith Also finished 15th in 2005.

- At No. 7, junior Lark Ervasti bested Mira Karande, 11-2, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8. It was Ervasti's 11th win of the season.
- Sophomore Anna O'Connor collected her team-leading 19th win of the season when she beat Ursula Sze, 7-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-8. She is 19-4 on the season with a 4-2 mark in the No. 4 spot.
- Junior Laila Selim defeated Darcy Weber, 11-5, 11-6, 6-11, 11-9, at No. 2. With the win, Selim is now 16-5 overall with a 15-5 mark in the second spot of the lineup.
- Junior Rafaela Albuja Sanchez clinched the overall match with her win in the top spot. She beat Emma Kate Watts-Roy, 11-4, 11-5, 4-11, 11-4. Albuja Sanchez is 18-3 on the year playing all 21 matches at No. 1.

While the team has concluded its campaign, some Herons will return to the court March 3-5, when they return to Philadelphia for the College Squash Association Individual Championships.
