GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart and William Smith Colleges Coordinator of Sports Medicine
Stephanie Habecker announced the appointment of
Richie Titus to serve as an assistant athletic trainer.
"We are incredibly excited for Richie to join our staff," Habecker said. "He is passionate about athletic training, a genuine individual, and by all accounts a dedicated and hard-working athletic trainer. I know Richie can't wait to meet our student-athletes and put his skills to great use."
Titus comes to the Colleges after completing a four-month student athletic training clinical placement with the Duke University men's lacrosse team. He collaborated with the Sport Science Institute and Athletic Training Department to analyze injury risk and implement corresponding corrective exercise programs.
A native of Cortland, Ohio, Titus holds a bachelor's degree in sports medicine and a master's degree in athletic training from Mercyhurst University. As a graduate student, he assisted the Lakers' athletic training staff with the evaluation, treatment and documentation of student-athlete injuries and illness. Titus worked closely with the Mercyhurst women's soccer, wrestling, baseball, football, women's hockey and men's lacrosse teams.
During his time at Mercyhurst, Titus gained additional practical experience as a student athletic trainer at McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania, and at Penn State Behrend. He also provided event coverage with the Mercyhurst athletic training staff during the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
A former student-athlete, Titus competed for the Lakers' cross country team. He was a five-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Titus is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society. He is certified in CPR/AED for the professional rescuer and first aid.
