The Hobart Alpine skiing team was back on the slopes this weekend, Jan. 25-26, as they competed in week 2 of its USCSA season. The Statesmen finished first in both the slalom and giant slalom and currently sits in first place in the Mideast Conference standings.

Saturday's slalom race, which included 66 racers, saw three Statesmen finish in the top 10. First-year
Will Patton took first place, finishing with a combined time of 1:28.34. Sophomore
Ethan Hine finished in fourth place with a combined race time of 1:31.35, and junior
Jack Ross rounded out the top three Statesmen with a seventh-place finish and a combined time of 1:33.55. Hobart dominated the slalom race, finishing in first place more than nine seconds ahead of runner-up Cornell.

In Sunday's giant slalom race, four Statesmen finished in the top 20 to propel them to a first-place finish. Patton continued his success, winning with a combined time of 1:40.34. Ross was in fourth with a time of 1:43.08. First-year
Jake Labanowski finished in 14th with a time of 1:46.14, and junior
John Meagher posted a time of 1:47.21 to come in 19th place.

The Statesmen will be back in action Feb. 1-2, racing on Bristol Mountain. The giant slalom is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the slalom on Sunday at 9 a.m.
