ROME, Ga.—Seniors
Nick Fischer and
Jacob Linares of the Hobart tennis team saw its run for the 2025 ITA Cup come to a close this afternoon as it fell in a thrilling semifinal match to a duo from Claremont Mudd-Scripps. With the loss, the Statesmen duo falls to 7-1 on the season.
Fischer and Linares battled against CMS's Sibi Raja and Henry Wilson, taking them to a 10-point match tiebreaker, ultimately falling 18-16 in the thrilling matchup. Raja and Wilson took set one 7-6 (7-5), before the Hobart duo responded with a 7-5 win in the second set to force the match to a tiebreaker. The two sides forced extra points in the tiebreaker set with the match ending at 18-16 in favor of CMS.
With the win, the CMS duo advances to tomorrow's championship match against Ajay Kartik and Matthew Johnstone from Emory University who reached the finals after defeating Babson's Sebastian Mendoza and Edward Wang 6-4, 6-4, this afternoon.
