Brosko, Atwater, Lyon named to honor roll

Hobart sophomore quarterback Jeremy Weiss was named the Liberty League Football Offensive Performer of the Week by the conference office today. He directed the Statesmen's most prolific offensive effort of the season in a 49-17 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday.

Additionally, sophomore defensive tackle Billy Brosko, first-year linebacker Jeron Atwater Jr. and senior punter Vicente Lyon each earned a spot on the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll.

Weiss was 13-of-17 passing for a career-high 329 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He eclipsed the Hobart game record for pass efficiency, logging a 316.7 rating, surpassing the previous standard by more than 47 points. Weiss also teamed up with sophomore wide receiver Jordan Nolan to break the Hobart record for longest pass play. Standing in his own end zone, Weiss heaved a pass to the Hobart 47 that Nolan caught and took to the house for a 96-yard touchdown, seven yards longer than the previous mark. Weiss' 76.5 completion percentage is fifth on Hobart's single-game list, while his four TD passes are tied for ninth on the single-game list. Weiss is the first Hobart quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards since Sept. 21, 2019 (Ryan Hofmann, 380 yds vs. Rowan).

In five games this season, Weiss has completed 53.7% of his passes for 851 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the league in pass efficiency at 171.2 and is fourth in passing yards per game at 170.2.

Brosko, Atwater and the rest of the Hobart defense limited the St. Lawrence's offense to just a single, fourth-quarter field goal in the 32-point victory. They limited the league's No. 2 passing offense to a season-low 118 yards through the air and a mere 194 yards of total offense.

Brosko made six tackles, including three for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. Early in the second quarter, he tackled a Saints' running back behind the line of scrimmage and ripped the ball out. Hobart recovered and scored a 29-yard touchdown on the next play to take a 21-7 lead.

A starter in all seven games, Brosko is third on the team with 37 tackles. He leads Hobart and is third in the league with eight tackles for loss.

Atwater made a game-high eight tackles, 1.5 for loss, 0.5 sack and a pass breakup. He's played in six games this season, accumulating 24 tackles, 3.5 for loss, three pass breakups and 2.5 sacks.

Lyon punted twice in Saturday's 49-17 win over St. Lawrence, pinning the Saints inside their own 20 both times. He averaged 50 yards per punt, including a long of 57 yards (which is longer than any other punter in the league's best this season). The preseason All-American leads the Liberty League in punting average (42.0), punts inside the 20 (11) and punts of 50+ yards.

Hobart (2-5, 1-3 Liberty) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 1, when the Statesmen visit Rochester (5-2, 2-2) for the annual Centennial Cup game. Kickoff at Fauver Stadium is scheduled for noon.
