Hobart senior punter Vicente Lyon earned a spot on the Associated Press Division III Football All-America teams for the second year in a row. A second team selection this season after earning first team honors last season, he's just the fourth Statesman to earn multiple All-America honors from the AP.

The 2025 Liberty League Special Teams Player of the Year led the conference in punting average at 42.9 yards per punt. He launched a league-high seven punts that covered 50 or more yards, including a 63 yarder at Brockport, the longest punt by any player in the league. Lyon averaged at least 40 yards per punt in eight of the 10 games he played, including a season-high 50.0 yards per punt against St. Lawrence. He earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week for his efforts against the Saints.

Hobart was 6-5 this season, finishing the year on a five-game winning streak. The Statesmen capped the season with a 42-14 win over Maritime in the ECAC James Lynah Bowl.

Lyon appeared in 30 career games at Hobart, averaging a Hobart record 41.3 yards per punt. He's the first player in program history to average more than 40 yards per game for his career. Lyon set the Hobart season record for punting average in 2024 (43.58), earning All-America recognition from D3football.com (3rd team) as well as the AP. He set the Hobart record for longest punt against Ithaca in 2024, blasting an 86-yard punt that was the longest by any player at any level of NCAA football that season.

A three-time All-Liberty League pick, Lyon averaged 37.53 yards per punt as a first-year, which at the time was ninth on Hobart's single season list. He missed his sophomore season due to an injury.

Since Fred King '37 was named to the 1936 AP Little All-America second team, 14 Statesmen have earned 19 All-America awards. Don Bruno '55 was a three-time selection (1952, 1953, 1954), while Lyon, William Morton '55 (1953, 1954), and Emmett Forde '22 (2019, 2021) are two-time honorees.
