#11 Statesmen continue road trip at Bengal Invite

The 11th-ranked Hobart volleyball team travels to Buffalo Saturday, Feb. 22, for two nonconference matches against Penn State Behrend and Buffalo State.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:
  • Hobart remains at No. 11 in this week's AVCA national poll, marking the sixth straight week the Statesmen have been ranked in the poll.
  • The Statesmen are 15-2 on the season and are coming off a 2-1 weekend that saw them fall to No. 4 Stevens before bouncing back with wins over Regis and Manhattanville.
  • Graduate student Andrew Kim leads the UVC and ranks second in the nation in kills per set (4.80) and points per set (5.75). He ranks third in the conference and eighth nationally in service aces per set (0.70), and sixth in the conference and 18th nationally in hitting percentage (.421).
  • Sophomore duo Noah DeLong and Daniel Sappia add 2.20 and 2.00 kills per set, respectively.
  • Sophomore Zack Farren and graduate student Benjamin Lincoln lead the Statesmen from the setter position, averaging 5.67 and 4.04 assists per set, respectively. Farren ranks seventh in the conference in that category.
  • Defensively, Hobart is led by sophomore libero Gavin Meador, averaging a league-leading 3.06 digs per set. He ranks 14th in the nation in that category. Kim chips in 2.09 digs per set, which ranks fifth in the UVC.
  • First-year Alain Malcolm leads the Statesmen at the net, averaging 0.83 blocks per set which ranks sixth in the conference.
ABOUT THE LIONS:
  • Penn State Behrend enters the weekend with a 4-8 overall record and is coming off two wins against Mt. Aloysius on Sunday.
  • Kyle Hoffman leads the Lions offensively, averaging 2.83 kills per set. Daniel Easly follows with 2.09 kills per set.
  • Caden Mealy averages a team-leading 7.05 assists per set for Penn State Behrend.
  • Defensively, the Lions are led by Luke Mumpower, averaging 2.44 digs per set. Lewis Rhodes chips in 1.15 blocks per set for PSB.
  • This is the second meeting between the Statesmen and the Lions. Hobart defeated PSB 3-0 on Jan. 19, 2024, to secure its first home win in program history. Kim led the Statesmen with 16 kills.
ABOUT THE BENGALS:
  • Buffalo State enters the weekend with a 7-8 overall record and will take on Nazareth before it's matchup with Hobart on Saturday.
  • Gavin Wilczewski leads the Bengals offensively, averaging 3.41 kills per set and is followed by Malachi Jackson with 2.76 kills per set.
  • Drew Bowman averages a team-leading 7.53 assists per set, while Jackson Stang chips in 7.17 assists per set.
  • Defensively, Buffalo State is led by Alex Vega with 3.24 digs per set. Malachi chips in 0.62 blocks per set for the Bengals.
  • This will be the fourth meeting between Hobart and Buffalo State. The Statesmen have won all three previous meetings, including earlier this season, when Hobart defeated the Bengals 3-0 on Jan. 11, 2025. Kim led the Statesmen with 18 kills.
