CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- The Hobart Alpine skiing team continued to impress this weekend as they finished first in both the Giant Slalom and Slalom events in week three of USCSA action on Bristol Mountain. First-year
Will Patton shined for the Statesmen as he took home first place finishes in both events. With the two wins, Patton now sits at four first place finishes in his rookie season.

In Saturday's 74 racer giant slalom field, four Statesmen finished in the top ten to earn first place. Patton led Hobart with a first-place finish with a combined race time of 1:51.71. He was followed by sophomore
Ethan Hine who finished third with a time of 1:53.27. Junior
Jack Ross raced to a fifth-place finish after stopping the clock at 1:56.77, while first-year
Jake Labanowski collected an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:57.53.

The following day, Patton and Ross dominated the slalom race yet again. Against 71 racers, Patton took first again with a time of 1:25.14 for his second win of the weekend. Ross came in closely behind with a time of 1:28.47 to clinch second place. Hine and senior
Rex Eidlin finished top 30 to help propel the Statesmen to victory. Hine came in 22nd with a combined race time of 1:40.84, while Eidlin finished in 28th with a time of 1:47.92.

After three weeks of competition, Hobart sits in first place in the Mideast Conference standings with six team points. Colgate follows in second with 17 points while Syracuse rounds out the top three with 19 points.

The Statesmen will return to action next weekend, Feb. 8-9, when they head to Queensbury, New York, to compete in week four of USCSA action on West Mountain. Â
