Three members of the Hobart tennis team were recognized by the Liberty League after two strong performances last week. Senior Hyat Oyer was named the conference's Singles Performer of the Week, while senior Nick Grosso and junior Nick Fischer were named the Doubles Team of the Week.

The Statesmen defeated St. Lawrence 7-0 on Saturday and Ithaca 4-3 on Sunday, clinching the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Liberty League Championship this weekend. Hobart finished its regular season with an 11-8 overall record, including a 6-2 record in conference play.

Oyer was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week for the third time this season after an impressive week that saw him go 2-0 in the No. 1 singles spot. He defeated St. Lawrence's Edvin Strandberg 6-2, 6-3, and Ithaca's Gijs Fidler 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, to extend his win streak to three straight. Oyer leads the team with a 12-7 dual match record this season and is 8-5 from the No. 1 spot. He also went 2-0 this week in doubles play to help the Statesmen to back-to-back wins.

Grosso and Fischer were tabbed the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week for the first time this season after leading Hobart with two wins from the No. 1 doubles position. The Statesmen duo defeated St. Lawrence's Strandberg and John Hill-Edgar 6-3, and Ithaca's Ivan Kisic and Siddharth Vaada 6-1 to extend their win streak to three straight. Grosso and Fischer are 8-6 in dual matches this season and are 7-6 from the No. 1 spot.

Hobart will be back in action Saturday, May 3, when it takes on the winner of No. 3 RIT and No. 6 Ithaca in a Liberty League semifinal match. First serve is set for 5 p.m. at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center.
