The 45th-ranked Hobart tennis team will travel to Ithaca, New York, this weekend to compete in the 2025 Liberty League Men's Tennis Championship. The Statesmen earned a first-round bye after clinching the No. 2 seed in the regular season and will take on the winner of third-seeded RIT and sixth-seeded Ithaca on Saturday at 5 p.m. The tournament will be hosted at the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University.
Hobart finished the regular season with an 11-8 overall record including a 6-2 mark in league play and is ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Region II rankings.
The Statesmen are coming off a 4-3 victory over Ithaca last weekend. Senior Nick Grosso and junior Nick Fischer were named the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week, while senior Hyat Oyer was named the conference's Singles Performer of the Week for their performances last week.
The Tigers (8-8, 5-3) are set to take on the Bombers (6-9, 4-4) in the first round on Friday at 5 p.m. Last time Hobart saw RIT, they delivered a convincing 6-1 victory.Â
Top-seeded and 9th ranked RPI (16-3, 8-0) will take on the winner of fourth-seeded Skidmore (10-8, 5-3) and fifth-seeded Vassar (9-10, 5-3). The Thoroughbreds will face the Brewers on Friday at 2:15 p.m. for a spot in the semifinals.
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
- Oyer primarily plays in the No. 1 singles spot and has a 12-7 record in dual matches. He is currently on a three-match winning streak and is No. 6 in the NCAA Region II singles rankings.Â
- Grosso follows closely behind at 10-7 in dual matches, including a 9-7 record from the No. 3 spot.
- Oyer and senior Rahul Vallabhajosula lead the team with a 12-4 record in dual match doubles play this season, primarily from the No. 2 spot.

- Yu Tanimoto leads the team from the No. 1 singles spot with an 8-6 record in dual matches. He is ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Region II singles rankings.
- Grahith Movva and Alec Turcotte are both 4-9 in dual matches. Movva plays at No. 2, while Turcotte plays at No. 3.
- The pairing of Alexander Sinclair and Tanimota lead the team in doubles play with a 6-5 record in dual matches. They are 5-3 in the No. 3 spot.
- Movva and Christian Berko hold a 4-8 record from the No.1 spot.
ABOUT THE BOMBERS
- Ivan Kisic leads the team in dual matches with an 11-4 record and is 9-3 from the No. 3 spot. He is on a six-match winning streak and just earned his third Liberty League Rookie of the Week award.
- Gijs Fidler is 4-11 in dual matches in the No. 1 spot for Ithaca.Â
- Kisic and Siddharth Vaada lead the team in doubles with a 6-3 record at No. 2, while Luis Crespo and Ean Lantzy are 7-6 from the No. 3 spot.
- Fidler and Siddharth Desai are 4-8 in the No. 1 spot.Â
