Four members from the Hobart and William Smith volleyball teams have been invited to play for the USA DIII volleyball team's that will travel to Brazil with USA sports tours and events. Sophomore right side Noah DeLong and first-year middle Alain Malcolm will represent the Statesmen, while junior outside Malya Sayre and first-year setter Delainy Williams will represent the Herons.
"This is an outstanding group of young women and men," said Director of USA Sports Tours and Events Ron Smith. "Many of the players on this year's DIII volleyball team had great individual seasons and led their teams into postseason play. This tour is designed to expose players to a great international volleyball experience while providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for educational, cultural and social growth."Â
The USA DIII volleyball teams tour will run from June 9-18 and will be made up of 20 players representing 12 colleges and universities nationwide. HWS is represented by four student-athletes, which is the most of any school. The teams will depart for Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will open play with a doubleheader in the city of Jundiai on Tuesday, June 10. The following day, the teams will travel and play in the city of Sao Paulo. Following its matches, the teams will travel to Rio De Janeiro to compete in the "International Challenge" on June 14. The USA teams will play three matches each in the international challenge and will also be conducting a youth clinic at the Marina Barra Clube, hosted by Ripper Volei as part of their social outreach project.
While in Brazil, the team will experience educational, cultural, and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. While in Rio, the team will be staying at the famous Copacabana Beach (location of the 2016 Rio Olympic Beach Volleyball tournament) and touring some of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
"I am fired up that Noah and Alain are going to represent our country in Brazil this summer" said Hobart Volleyball Head Coach Steve England. "I was privileged to coach the team in 2015, and it was an experience I will never forget."

"Malya and Delainy are two of the best in the country and I am excited for them to experience this with others of the same caliber. It gives me great pride to know these women will represent us on the international stage and I can't wait for their growth through this amazing trip!"
