GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart Lacrosse Head Coach
Stephen Brundage has hired
Luke Staudt to serve as an assistant coach and director of operations for the 2026 season. A native of nearby Camillus, Staudt was a Division I goalie for four years at Loyola before completing his eligibility as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins.
"Luke is going to be phenomenal coach," Brundage said. "He's young, hungry and has an unbelievable passion for, not only the goalie position, but for the sport of lacrosse. His natural ability to communicate and connect was evident the first time we met. He will have an immediate impact on our goalies and work closely with Coach Fisher and our defense."
At Loyola, Staudt played in 35 games over three seasons, posting a 12-17 record with a .536 save percentage and an 11.61 GAA. In 2023, he was named an honorable mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse after posting a 7-7 record, a Patriot League leading .554 save percentage and an 11.14 GAA in 15 games for the Greyhounds. Staudt's season included an impressive 19-save performance in a 12-7 win over then No. 1 Maryland and a career-high 20-save effort to beat Boston University in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament. He finished the tournament with a PL record 49 saves in three games.
A four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, Staudt earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Loyola in 2024.
With a year of eligibility remaining, Staudt took his talents south on Charles Street to play for Johns Hopkins in 2025. He won his first four starts with the Blue Jays, making a season-high 12 saves in his debut at No. 9 Denver. Staudt was 5-2 at midseason with a 10.29 GAA and a .450 save percentage, but missed the rest of the year due to injury.
Staudt earned a master's degree in organizational leadership from JHU.
Since 2020, Staudt has run his own goalie training business in Syracuse. He has also served as a part-time coach for Harlem Lacrosse.
Staudt was a two-time team captain and three-time team MVP for West Genesee High School. He ranks second on the program's all-time saves list.
