Two players from the William Smith field hockey team were recognized by the Liberty League for their performances over the weekend. Graduate student Rebecca Mantione was named the conference's Offensive Performer of the Week, while sophomore Baker Jeremiah earned a spot on the weekly honor roll.

The Herons went 2-0 over the weekend, defeating Gettysburg 5-4 in double overtime before rallying to defeat Lebanon Valley 2-0 in a shootout Sunday during the William Smith Classic. William Smith is now 4-2 on the season as is heading to Rochester, New York, on Wednesday for a nonconference matchup with Nazareth at 6 p.m.

Mantione had a standout weekend for the Herons, tallying nine points on four goals and an assist during the William Smith Classic. In Saturday's come-from-behind victory over the Bullets, she scored three goals and added an assist. It was her second career hat trick for the Herons. After assisting on William Smith's second goal of the game, Mantione gave the Herons an offensive spark, scoring back-to-back goals to tie the game at 4-4 to send it to overtime. She then recorded the game-winning goal with under three minutes remaining in overtime to clinch the victory.

The following day, Mantione tallied the Herons' lone goal in regulation, forcing the game to overtime for the second-straight day. Her goal against the Flying Dutchmen was her fifth of the season and third straight game with a goal. Mantione leads the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She also leads the Liberty League in shots per game (5.00) and goals per game (.833) and is second in points per game (2.00).

Jeremiah earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after earning two wins in goal. Against Gettysburg, she recorded six saves. Jeremiah then made a career-high eight saves vs. Lebanon Valley. She stopped all four of the Flying Dutchemen shootout attempts to secure the 2-1 victory for the Herons. With the wins, Jeremiah moves to 2-1 on the season and 11-11 in her career.
