Sheehan nets Liberty League Recognition

Hobart senior defender Brian Sheehan was named the Liberty League Men's Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week by the conference office today. In addition, sophomore forward Brady Leitner was named to the weekly honor roll.

Sheehan and Leitner accounted for all three of Hobart's goals in a 2-0-0 week at the Drew/FDU Fall Classic. The Statesmen opened their season with a 2-0 win over Kean and a 1-0 win over Drew this past weekend. It is the first time since 2021 that Hobart started the year with back-to-back shutouts.

Sheehan scored the game-winning goal in Friday's victory over Kean. He headed home a corner kick in the 34th minute, Sheehan also played all 180 minutes at center back as the Statesmen limited Kean and Drew to a combined 15 shots on the weekend.

Leitner scored Hobart's other two goals on the weekend. On Friday he scored in the 72nd minute, breaking in alone on the goalie from near midfield. On Sunday, Leitner collected a pass from La Zai Outerbridge, raced down the right wing and buried the game's only goal in the 50th minute. Leitner has scored in three of Hobart's last four games.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they welcome St. John Fisher to Cozzens Field. Hobart's home opener is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
