GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith first-year
Katherine Hughey logged her first collegiate win, but it was not enough as the Herons were defeated by Franklin & Marshall 8-1 at the Smith Squash Center today.

Jada Smith-Padmore, who were playing their final match at the Smith Squash Center.
MATCH DETAILS
- Hughey earned the Herons' point playing at No. 9. She beat Nathalie Hernandez, 11-1, 11-5, 11-0.
- The Diplomats won all eight of their points in 3-0 sweeps.
- Smith-Padmore had a hard-fought battle in the No. 1 spot, but was edged by Ahanti Amastal, 11-7, 11-4, 12-10.
- Finnerty also had a tight match in the No. 2 spot, but dropped her match, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8.
- Amalia Clemente notched an unofficial win, playing in the No. 10 spot.
UP NEXT
William Smith will be back in action on Jan. 30-31 when it heads to Pennsylvania to take on Dickinson and Haverford.
