Hobart first-year Harry Fromberg was named the United Volleyball Conference's Co-Rookie of the Week today, sharing the award with St. John Fisher's Avery Kielbasinski.
 
The 20th-ranked Statesmen are 5-5 to open the season after going 2-1 in the 2026 Statesmen Tournament over the weekend. Hobart swept both New Jersey City and Nazareth, which received votes in last week's AVCA national poll, and fell in four sets to Trine over the weekend.
 
Fromberg combined for 24 kills (.386), 15 digs, seven blocks and one assist, averaging 2.40 kills per set, 1.50 digs per set, 0.70 blocks per set and 2.90 points per set in 10 sets. Fromberg has impressed in his rookie campaign, averaging 2.08 kills per set, 0.68 digs per set, 0.49 blocks per set and 2.42 points per set through Hobart's first 10 matches.
 
The outside hitter from Bridgewater, New Jersey, opened the weekend with a five-kill, zero-error (.714) showing against the Gothic Knights. He added two blocks and one dig in the sweep. Fromberg then recorded his first double-double of the season when he put down 10 kills (.154) and tallied 13 digs against the Thunder. He added three blocks and one assist in the setback. Fromberg closed out the weekend with a nine-kill (.727), two-block and one-dig performance in a sweep of the Golden Flyers.
 
Hobart will be back in action Feb. 6-7 when it travels to Springfield, Massachusetts, for the Morgan Classic. The Statesmen will open up action against Drew on Friday at 8:15 p.m. The winner will advance to play the winner of No. 1 Springfield and No. 6 Stevens the following day.
