2/27/2026 12:37:00 PM

The Hobart tennis team is set to open its spring season this Saturday, Feb. 28, as it welcomes SUNY Oneonta to Bristol Field House for a nonconference match. The Statesmen and Red Dragons will take the court at noon.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:
  • Senior Nick Fischer leads Hobart in singles play with a 4-1 record this fall, after securing four wins at the SLU Fall Classic.
  • Junior Achilleas Kousaridis went 3-2 in singles play in the fall, defeating Union's Simon Philip and St. Lawrence's Ryan Tingley at the SLU Fall Classic. Kousaridis bested Bard's Thanasis Kostikas at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships to earn his third win of the season.
  • Fischer and Jacob Linares '25 had a successful fall season in doubles action, going 7-1 and winning the ITA Northeast Regional Championships before advancing to the ITA Cup semifinals. Linares' graduation leaves an open spot for the Statesmen as Fischer looks to find another strong partner for doubles play.
  • Senior Jose Martinez Barelles and first-year Michael Georgelis also impressed in doubles play, securing a 2-1 record in the fall.
ABOUT THE RED DRAGONS:
  • Oneonta enters the weekend with a 5-4 overall record and is coming off a 7-0 loss to Skidmore last Friday.
  • William Schmid leads the Red Dragons in singles play with an overall record of 6-2, including a 2-0 mark in the No. 1 spot.
  • Peter Pitaleff is 5-2 on the season and is 2-0 in the No. 3 spot.
  • Schmid and Chris Chippari lead Oneonta in doubles play and have a 6-2 overall record in the No. 1 spot.
  • Pitaleff and Jaden Ritterman are 5-2 in the No. 2 doubles position.
