Statesmen host Cardinals Saturday in crucial conference clash

The Hobart volleyball team will be back in action as it continues UVC play this weekend with a home match against St. John Fisher on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. in Bristol Gym.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:                 
  • Hobart enters the weekend with a 7-9 overall record following a thrilling five-set win over then No. 17 Vassar Friday to begin UVC play.
  • The Statesmen are receiving votes in this week's AVCA national poll.
  • Junior Aiden Kemora leads Hobart in kills, averaging 2.29 per set and averages a team-leading 2.71 points per set. Junior Noah DeLong follows close behind, averaging 2.24 kills per set and 2.58 points per set, while first-year Harry Fromberg chips in 2.15 kills per set and 2.43 points per set.
  • Junior Zack Farren leads the Statesmen from the setter position, averaging 4.66 assists per set. First-years Charlie Dugan and Tor Boughal follow close behind, averaging 4.53 and 3.40 assists per set each, respectively.
  • On the defensive end, Hobart is led by junior libero Gavin Meador who averages 1.92 digs per set. Junior Daniel Sappia adds 1.16 digs per set while sophomore Kian Kischke averages a team-leading 0.80 blocks per set.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS:
  • St. John Fisher enters the weekend with a 9-6 overall record, including a 1-2 mark in conference play, and is coming off a 3-0 win over Houghton on Tuesday.
  • Offensively, Avery Kielbasinski leads the Cardinals with 2.75 kills per set and 3.10 points per set. Sonepith Keoviengsamay follows, averaging 2.65 kills per set and 3.13 points per set.
  • Aiden Calhoun averages a team-leading 5.59 assists per set, while Tyler Cohen chips in 4.35 assists per set.
  • Defensively, Luke Zimmerman leads the team averaging 2.75 digs per set, while Guillermo Perez leads in blocking, averaging 1.02 per set.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • This will be the fourth matchup between Hobart and St. John Fisher. The Cardinals have won all three previous matches against the Statesmen.
  • Last time they met, St. John Fisher defeated Hobart 3-1 on March 14, 2025, in Pittsford, New York.
