Statesmen conclude homestand against Nazareth Wednesday

The Hobart volleyball team will be back in action as it continues UVC play this week with a home match against Nazareth on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in Bristol Gym.

Fans who can't make it to Geneva Wednesday can follow the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:                 
  • Hobart enters the week with an 8-9 overall record following a four-set win over St. John Fisher Saturday. With the win, the Statesmen are now 2-0 in UVC play
  • Junior Aiden Kemora leads Hobart in points, averaging 2.75 per set and averages a team-leading 2.30 kills per set. Junior Noah DeLong adds 2.30 kills per set and follows close behind in points, averaging 2.65 per set.
  • First-year Harry Fromberg is coming off his second UVC Co-Rookie of the Week award of the season and chips in 2.17 kills per set and 2.46 points per set.
  • Junior Zack Farren leads the Statesmen from the setter position, averaging 4.74 assists per set. First-years Charlie Dugan and Tor Boughal follow close behind, averaging 4.53 and 3.47 assists per set each, respectively.
  • On the defensive end, Hobart is led by junior libero Gavin Meador's 1.93 digs per set. Junior Daniel Sappia adds 1.22 digs per set while sophomore Kian Kischke averages a team-leading 0.82 blocks per set.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLYERS:
  • Nazareth enters the weekend with a 9-9 overall record, including a 0-1 mark in conference play, and is coming off back-to-back 3-1 wins over Drew and Widener on Saturday.
  • Offensively, Ryan Murphy leads the Cardinals with 2.77 kills per set and 3.53 points per set. Sean Frawley follows, averaging 2.35 kills per set and 2.85 points per set.
  • AJ Burda averages a team-leading 8.40 assists per set.
  • Defensively, Gavin Sweet leads the team averaging 2.05 digs per set, while Austin Drews leads in blocking, averaging 0.80 per set.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • This will be the fourth matchup between Hobart and Nazareth. The Statesmen hold a 2-1 advantage in the series, including a 2-0 edge in Geneva.
  • Last time they met, Hobart defeated Nazareth 3-0 on Feb. 1, 2026, in Geneva, New York. DeLong led the Statesmen with 10 kills (.529), three digs, one block and one assist.
