3/30/2026 4:28:00 PM

William Smith's varsity eight was tabbed the Liberty League Women's Rowing Boat of the Week following its Spring opener in Ithaca, New York.

On Sunday, the Herons, who are ranked ninth in the CRCA Poll, swept their races with eighth-ranked Ithaca and 10th-ranked Hamilton at the Cayuga Duals. In the morning, Lizzy Whitney, Linnea Darius, Kate Abdalla, Cheyenne Muldowney, Raya Schwartz, Leah Wiebe, Eden Grim, Aubrey Ryan and Meghan Bartholomay went head-to-head with the Bombers. The Herons took a lead right from the start of the race and never looked back. They stopped the clock at 6:50.4, 14 seconds ahead of Ithaca. With the win, the Herons won the Heron-Bomber trophy for the first time since 2014. It was William Smith's first dual race win over the Bombers for the trophy since 2013. The Herons won the trophy in 2014 thanks to their first place finish at the New York Collegiate Rowing Championships.

In the afternoon, William Smith took on Hamilton. The Herons once again got off to a blazing start and never looked back. William Smith traversed the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:52.2, posting a 10-second win over the Continentals.

William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, April 4, when it heads back to Ithaca to take on the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology.
