Three members of the Hobart tennis team earned Liberty League recognition after a strong weekend that saw the Statesmen sweep Farmingdale State and Drew to move to 3-0 on the season. First-year
Michael Georgelis was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week, while seniors
Nick Fischer and
Aidan Staunton were named to the weekly honor roll.

For the first time in his career, Georgelis was named the conference's rookie of the week after a dominant weekend that saw him go 2-0 in singles play. He opened the weekend with a 6-0, 6-3, win over Farmingdale State's Kwaku Agyeman in the No. 2 spot. Georgelis then defeated Drew's Nicolas Mobayed 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot to move to 3-0 in dual match singles play. With the two wins, Georgelis is now 5-2 in singles play in his rookie season.

Fischer earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after a dominant performance in the No. 1 singles position against the Rangers. He defeated Drew's Jesse Faro 6-1, 6-0, securing one of Hobart's six singles points in the win. Fischer is now 2-0 in dual match singles play and 6-1 overall on the season.

Doubles partners Fischer and Staunton also earned a spot on the weekly honor roll after adding two wins to their resume. The Hobart duo defeated Farmingdale State's Zakaria Ahmed and Devan Melandro 6-1 and Drew's Faro and Daniel Arcari 6-2, both in the No. 1 spot. Fischer and Staunton are 3-0 on the season in the No. 1 spot.

Hobart will be back in action Sunday, March 15, when it takes on Coe and St. Norbert to open its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida.
