4/14/2026 1:43:00 PM

Following a strong weekend on Lake Quinsigamond, the William Smith rowing team jumped up two spots to No. 7 in the Pocock/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll. This is the highest the Herons have been ranked all season.

On Sunday, William Smith competed in a field that included then No. 1 Trinity, No. 4 Wellesley, No. 8 Bates and No. 10 Hamilton. The Herons' weekend in Worcester was highlighted by a second place finish from the second varsity eight. William Smith battled the Bantams down the course, but was ultimately beaten at the finish line. The Herons 2V went on to earn Liberty League Boat of the Week honors following its performance. William Smith's varsity eight was fourth and the third varsity eight was fifth.

The Herons will be back on the water Saturday, April 18, when they head to Saratoga Springs, New York, for the New York Collegiate Rowing Championships.  Racing is set to get underway at 9 a.m. The state championship regatta features teams from all three divisions.
