The Hobart tennis team is set to host two crucial conference matches this weekend. The Statesmen open the weekend against RPI on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m., followed by a showdown with Vassar on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the HWS Tennis Center.
ABOUT THE STATESMEN:
- Hobart is 8-6 on the season including a 2-3 mark in conference play and is coming off a 5-2 win over Liberty League foe, St. Lawrence, on Sunday.
- Senior Nick Fischer was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week, while junior Achilleas Kousaridis and first-year Everett Reid were named to the weekly honor roll.
- First-year Michael Georgelis leads the Statesmen in singles play with a 9-5 record in dual matches, playing primarily in the No. 4 spot. Classmate Tejus Ranadive is 9-3 in dual matches and 5-0 against conference opponents.
- Senior Aidan Staunton is 8-4, playing primarily in the No. 2 spot, while Fischer is 7-4 in the No. 1 position.
- In doubles play, Kousaridis and Reid lead Hobart with a 12-2 record at No. 2. The duo is riding a five-match win streak and are 3-2 in conference play.
- Fischer and Staunton add a 10-4 record in the No. 1 doubles spot.
ABOUT THE ENGINEERS
- RPI brings a 2-10 overall record to Geneva including a 2-3 record in conference play and is coming off a 6-1 loss to Skidmore.
- Tsubasa Okada leads the Engineers with a 5-1 record in singles, primarily playing in the No. 2 spot.
- In doubles play, Okada and Tasmay Shah are 3-5 at No. 1, while Aiden Atri and Felix Puyplat are 2-0 at No. 2 and 2-5 at No. 3.
- This will be the 24th meeting between Hobart and RPI. The Engineers hold a 14-9 edge in the series, including a 5-2 advantage in Geneva.
