4/17/2026 10:33:00 AM

The seventh-ranked William Smith rowing team will be back in action on Saturday, April 18, when it heads to Saratoga Springs, New York, for the New York Collegiate Rowing Championships. Racing is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The varsity eights will race first. The Herons will row in Heat 2, which is scheduled for 9:08 a.m. Rowing out of Lane 3, William Smith is slated to compete against Army, Marist, Canisius and St. Lawrence. The top two finishers in each heat progress to the grand final, the third and fourth place finishers to the petite final and the fifth-place boat will compete in the third level final.

The second varsity eights will race next. The Herons will compete in Heat 3 at 9:40 a.m. William Smith will go up against the Knights, Albany, and Rochester. Like in the 1V, the top two boats progress to the grand final and the other two boats will compete in the petite final.

William Smith's varsity four will compete in Heat 2 at 10:04 a.m. The Herons will take on Rochester, Canisius, Marist and Stony Brook. The progression will be the same as the eights.

The 3V8 will be a finals-only race, starting at 10:44 a.m. The Herons are scheduled to compete against Hamilton, Marist and two Smith eights.

Last year, William Smith won two medals at the state championship regatta. The Herons 2V8 captured a silver medal, stopping the clock at 7:29.255. William Smith also secured a bronze medal in the 3V8.
