The William Smith College squash team defeated Colgate 7-2 in its season opener this afternoon. The Herons improve to 1-0 on the season.
All seven of the Herons who earned victories today defeated their opponents 3-0. Junior
Katie Mullen (Sacred Heart/Rye, N.Y.) led William Smith in the No. 2 spot with a win over Colgate's Aimee Barraza. First-year
Isabella Comstock (Suffield Academy/Essex, Conn.) followed that with a victory over Annie Morrison at No. 3.
In the fifth spot first-year
Alexa Comstock (Tabor Academy/Essex, Conn.) earned the win, while sophomore
Emily Hazenberg (Pomfret School/New York, N.Y.) won at No. 6. Senior
Ali Haseotes (The Lincoln School/North Attleboro, Mass.), senior
Eliza Braendel (The Hill School/Chester Springs, Pa.), and sophomore
Madeleine Drouin (Newton Country Day/Wellesley, Mass.) wrapped things up in the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots, respectively.
The Herons will be back on the courts Nov. 22-23, when they compete in the Liberty League Tournament at Vassar.
