PRINCETON, N.J.—The William Smith College squash team fell to No. 18 Middlebury 7-2 this afternoon in the semifinal round of the Howe Cup C Division (Walker Cup). The 19th-ranked Herons dropped to 11-10 on the season.

Recording wins for William Smith was sophomore Katie Mullen (Convent of the Sacred Heart/Rye, N.Y.) and junior Katie Baker (Westminster School/Oyster Bay, N.Y.). Mullen downed Ellie Buechner 3-0 at No. 4, while Baker came from behind to defeat Brooke Beatt 3-2 in a hard-fought match at No. 5.

William Smith will square off with Amherst in the third place match at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.
