Ashlinn Barber (Spencer-Van Etten/Spencer, N.Y.) dominated in the paint with 19 points and eight rebounds for the Herons.
Myers was 8-of-12 from the floor, including five three-pointers. Barber was 6-of-10 shooting and converted all seven of her free throw tries. Senior guard
Latasha Coney (Lyons/Lyons, N.Y.) came up three assists shy of a triple double, recording 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and a game-high seven assists. First-year forward
Kristen Kush (Fulton/Fulton, N.Y.) also contributed 12 points.
The Herons (6-5) shot 50 percent from the floor and were 8-for-11 from three-point range for a season's best 72.7 shooting percentage. William Smith also blocked a season-high six shots, harassing the Mavericks (7-4) into a 37.9 percent shooting day.
Medaille, which came into the game allowing just 52.8 points per game, looked poised to take control midway through the first half, using a 7-2 push to forge a 21-12 lead at the 9:05 mark. Sophomore guard Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park/Orchard Park, N.Y.) capped the run with a three-pointer on her way to team-highs of 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.
However, William Smith (6-5) countered with a 16-7 run to end the stanza with a 42-37 advantage. Kush scored six straight points for the Herons during the surge. Myers led all scorers with 11 points at the break.
Early in the second half, William Smith used a 14-3 run to seize control of the game. The Herons got seven points from Barber, including a traditional three-point play, during the run that inflated their lead to 64-50. William Smith led by double digits the rest of the way.
The final non-conference game of the season for the Herons, William Smith will continue its seven-game homestand at 6 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 10, against Liberty League rival Hamilton.
