GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart cross country team finished seventh out of 15 teams in the Cross Country Only Conference Championships at Seneca Lake State Park today. First-year
Nick Schmidt paced the Statesmen finishing 21st in the 146-runner field.
Schmidt made his way around the 8-kilometer course in 29 minutes, 26 seconds, missing a spot in the top 20 by a single second. Senior
Ross Hicks (44th, 30:56), first-year
Josh Kirkman (46th, 31:06), and sophomore
Alden Ruml (50th, 31:12) also finished in the top 50 for Hobart.
Clarkson won the team title after placing five runners in the top eight, including individual winner Alex Benway (26:51). Benway had been the runner-up in each of the past two CCOC Championships. SUNYIT took second 60 points behind the Golden Knights.
Hobart was four points behind sixth place SUNY ESF and 16 points ahead of eighth place SUNY Canton.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 23, when they run in the Heron Invitational at Seneca Lake State Park.
