GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College cross country team finished in sixth place, as they hosted the Liberty League Cross Country Championship at Seneca Lake State Park this afternoon. The defending champions, the St. Lawrence cross country team, took first place.
First-year
Josh Kirkman led the Statesmen across the finish line, completing the 8-kilometer course in 29 minutes, 21.29 seconds. He finished 49th out of 83 runners. First-year
Nick Schmidt took 51st with a time of 29:26.24. Sophomore
Blake Taylor was the next Hobart runner to finish, claiming 61st place.
Rounding out the top five Statesmen finishers were senior
Ross Hicks and first-year
Greg Mathieu who took 66th and 67th, respectively.
St. Lawrence earned the victory with a total of 15 team points. The Saints' junior John Johnston took first place with a time of 26:08.66. He was followed by four of his teammates, as St. Lawrence swept the top five spots. Vassar came in second place with 61 team points, and Rensselaer finished third with 79 points.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Nov. 6, when they compete at the ECAC Championships.
