Kirkman leads Statesmen at NCAA Atlantic Regionals

ONEONTA, N.Y.—
Hobart first-year Josh Kirkman led the Statesmen across the finish line at the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships at Fortin Park hosted by SUNY Oneonta. He finished the 8-kilometer course with a time of 28 minutes, 27.9 seconds to place 168th out of 268 runners.

This is the seventh time this season that Kirkman has been the top-Hobart finisher. First-year Nick Schmidt was next to finish for Hobart, taking 192nd place in 28:49.4.

The third Statesman to finish was sophomore Blake Taylor completing the course in 29:49.4, followed by fellow sophomore Alden Ruml who recorded a time of 29:56.0. First-year Greg Mathieu rounded out the top five Statesmen runners.

Lee Berube from Geneseo crossed the line in 24:27 to earn the title of NCAA Atlantic Region Champion. Hobart finished 35th out of 39 teams. SUNY Geneseo and St.Lawrence were the top two teams and will be awarded a team automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
