GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College tennis team topped Nazareth 8-1 tonight at Bristol Field House. The Statesmen improve to 6-4 overall, while the Golden Flyers fall to 2-4 on the year.
First-years
Bruce Grant and
Alex James battled for an 8-6 win over Golden Flyers Josh Mulligan and Ryan McCormick at first doubles, while sophomore
Matt Hursh and junior
Matt Chin teamed up for an 8-3 victory vs. Adam Landry and Jeremy Mancus at No. 2.
At third doubles, senior
Guillaume Etlin and sophomore
Kevin Bates found themselves in a tough match, but held on to defeat Steve Trobert and Bret Beaver 9-7.
In singles action, Grant earned the victory at No. 1, while Hursh, James, Etlin, and Bates secured the win for the Statesmen by defeating their opponents at Nos. 2-5, respectively.
Hobart will be back in action in Bristol Field House on March 26, when the Statesmen host St. Lawrence at 4 p.m.
